How to Clean Curling Irons and Flat Irons

Curling irons and flat irons can get really dirty and coated with hair product. Once they get dirty, they don’t work on your hair as well, and replacing them can get pretty pricey. No worries–with just a couple of pantry items, you can get your flat irons and curling irons clean in no time! It’s a good idea to clean them any time you notice that they are taking longer to curl or flatten your hair.

How to Decorate with Orange to Stylishly Warm Up Any Room

Mandarin, pumpkin spice, sunset, warm persimmon … these are all paint color names for orange. Orange is a contemporary, fun and warm color, but it can be tricky to decorate with — until now. Here are some orange decorating ideas to inspire you! You’ll be an expert on how to decorate with orange to add some contemporary flair and warmth to a room.

So, how to get started decorating with orange? First off, you don’t have to spend a fortune or redo your house to add orange. The color works beautifully with earth tones and neutrals such as taupes, beiges and greys. It’s such a vibrant and eye-catching tone that a little can go a long way. You don’t have to commit to a fully orange room. Choose a few elements instead, like the images below.

Decorating with pumpkin spice in the bedroom

One of the easiest ways to add a little (pumpkin) spice into your life is by adding some orange to the bedroom. Start with some throw pillows and a blanket, or a bench or orange foot stool. Decorating with orange by adding these small elements isn’t expensive. You can warm up your bedroom on a budget.

Change a room’s personality with window treatments

One of the quickest ways to change the look of a room quickly is by switching out or adding curtains. Perhaps you like the windows bare in the summer or to display white gauze curtains. Why not add heavier-weight orange spice curtains for the fall and winter? They’ll not only warm up the space physically but the room will also look warmer and more inviting, too.

How to choose the right orange paint color

There are many orange shades and tones available. How do you choose the right orange paint color? Choose a deeply saturated orange that is either bright and vibrant or rich and earthy. Avoid lighter, less saturated tones, which may look chalky.

When painting with orange, a matte or eggshell paint sheen works better for an interior. Paint only one wall or an alcove in the bold color and repeat the orange color in the room via home accents, furniture pieces or accessories.

Here are our favorite bathroom mirror ideas and themes:

1. Double It

Create a look that’s twice as stunning by duplicating the style two (or even three) times. This is most commonly done over double sinks, but multiple mirrors could be used over a long single-sink vanity as an alternative to one large mirror.

2. Be Unique

One of our favorite bathroom mirror ideas is choosing an unconventional shape is an easy and effective way to make a statement in any size or style bathroom. Many vintage styles offer interesting shapes and intricate designs. It’s the perfect way to add a statement piece to your bathroom without adding unnecessary accessories that clutter the room.

3. Mix and Match

Gather different sizes and/or styles of mirrors and hang them in a gallery-wall-style arrangement. Be sure to vary the mirrors so that they complement instead of compete against one another. Keep them all on one wall, or you’ll risk a funhouse effect.

4. Hang It

Technically, most mirrors are hung on the wall. However, suspending the mirror from a visible rope or wire is a great way to add an element of interest. You can choose from a variety of materials to hang the mirror, such as thick rope to create a nautical theme or wire for a more modern, industrial vibe — just be sure it’s secure.

5. Illuminate It

A simple mirror can get a glamorous update with the addition of backlighting. You can purchase mirrors with built-in lights, or add them yourself to the mirror of your choosing. Illuminated mirrors are ideal for applying makeup and seeing your face in a detailed (but flattering) way. They’re great for bathrooms with low natural light. Just be sure that your lighting is soft, not harsh or fluorescent.

6. Go Big

Not only do large mirrors look impressive, they also help you bring in light. Depending on your space and style, you can try adding a frame around the mirror to give it a more polished appearance. Leaving it unframed works for more minimalistic spaces.

  • This may seem obvious, but ditch the king-size (or even queen) bed and use space-saving furniture. If storage space is an issue, under-bed storage containers such as this one can free up a lot of space.
  • Visually expand the room by using mirrors.
